Having spent a lifetime painting, teaching art and art history, VILA has won the praise of her peers as a repeated winner of the MEMBERS CHOICE award of The Palette and Brush Club. She is consistently noted in Marquis Who’s Who in American Education and in Marquis Who’s Who in American Women, “limited to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their own fields of endeavor and contributed significantly in the betterment of contemporary society.”

VILA has been involved with the arts for more than half a century. Beyond her Masters and Doctoral degree from Columbia University, she studied at the University of Madrid, the College of Arts and Crafts in California, The Art Students League in NYC, Fairfield University in Connecticut and painted with Raul Anguiano, the last of the Mexican muralists. Her own work has won awards at home and abroad and she has reached students who today are luminaries in the world of art.

Like her idol, Georgia O’Keeffe, VILA has been selective about who may purchase a VILA original. Two of her original watercolors, MAIZ and FLORA AND FAUNA, are in corporate collections. They have been reproduced with a limited edition of 250 giclee prints of each work at a minimum price of $500.00 per print. These are COLLECTOR PRINTS. NONE will ever be made again after this initial printing.

MAIZ is inspired by her admiration for the Mexican muralists who strove to inspire pride in the Mexican peasant’s preference for corn and tortillas. FLORA AND FAUNA depicts a never-ending struggle for survival.

NOTE! Only the first 250 of requests for MAIZ and FLORA AND FAUNA will be honored.
